Mark is written by John-Mark, the nephew of Barnabas, who failed miserably in the eyes of Paul when he ‘lost his bottle’ and deserted them at Perga on the first missionary journey.

Like Peter, John Mark got his act together after his fall. Indeed, many theologians believe that Mark was a disciple of Peter and got much of his information and active action lifestyle and method of communication, right from him.

Mark certainly gets straight to the point in his writing; he’s a tabloid head-liner, and consequently, Mark is an ‘ACTION’ Gospel,  and McGee says that, ‘Mark was written by a busy man for busy people about a busy Person.’

So, Mark is all about headline action and deeds of daring and wonder, and all their associated emotions, and as John is his Hebrew name, Mark, being his Roman name, is emblematic of the primary audience to whom he is writing, - and you know the last human being  to speak in this Gospel of Mark is a Roman Centurion speaking about Yeshua saying,

“TRULY THIS MAN WAS THE SON OF GOD.”

(Mark 15,39 NKJV)
